Will this article create a link between shame, the world present situation and morality? Well, we have to define shame, in seeking the meaning of the word, the dictionaries, books of learning and experiences within ourselves have brought us to understand that shame is a feeling of loss of respect, disappointment and dissatisfaction with something, someone or even one’s self. Most importantly the grail message has served as a great foundation for writing many of my articles.
But does this explanation really seek an in depth probe into the nature of shame, its association with Man and how it may be greatly linked with everything Man knows. Well, we shall seek to discuss and expand more on the subject of shame.
Naturally no one would want to be associated with shameful activities, this feeling has been embedded into the core of man by the creator in his divine wisdom, but in order to explain why such feeling is present, a painstaking understanding of shame shall be arrived at. Speaking of shameful activities, each person is completely aware to their fingertip of every actions they carry out that are detrimental to their selves and others. Including activities that rather uplift us and our environment, they debase us.
Physical shame is a very valuable quality that allows man to stand tall and occupy the high position that he as a human being should occupy. A very noble position.
This physical shame awakens along with the setting in of the generative power. It acts as an impediment to the sexual instinct which belongs to the beast and also as a protection for man so that he does not descend from his noble pure heights and yield to sexual indulgence in a beast-like fashion.
It is noteworthy to state that not until Man is clothed with the material body does the carnal feeling awaken along with the feeling of shame and other necessary qualities that will aid his operation in the physical world. The greater the feeling of shame, the nobler is this passion, and the greater the Man is spiritually.
Easily, the sense of physical shame in an individual will serve as a measure of their spiritual worth or stage. It is a test that never fails, and an individual can always be measured by it.
Now exploring the alternate side, in an event that this feeling of shame has been suppressed or gagged, the reaction is that the far finer and different shame immersed in the soul is also affected, sometimes often destroyed altogether leaving the inner Man in a debased state. Shame prevents Man from engaging in activities will bring burden and guilt to his soul.
Contrary to the origin of Man, and how he ought to have been as a collective this is a certain sign of Man’s retrogression and even moral disarray. Interestingly, over the centuries and as time progresses, we all can witness how human beings strive to stifle this precious gift under the guise of progress, whether it concerns occupation, fashion, inner life, sports, children’s education or hygiene. This is very much visible to the avid thinkers. However, observing the situation logically one can reach the conclusion that it is indeed a sign of inner decay, perhaps a collective decay, and even a sign of Man’s retrogression.
As mentioned earlier, the worth or unworthiness of an individual can be directly measured by his sense of physical shame. If this precious gift can be valued by Man it will serve as a great help upwards and towards his spiritual development.
